"I want a new way to build technology, I don't just want to resist for some time against what big tech is doing."

Simone Riboutti talks about the aim of the Cables Of Resistance Conference that took place in Berlin on April 10-12, 2026.

"If people learn that Big Tech is bad and then they go home, for us it's a defeat", he says. "We need to tell people a believable story of how technology could be that goes beyond opposition to big tech."

This is how the manifesto of the Conference begins:

"Big Tech destroys our society and the planet.
Let's resist together and combine our struggles!
We stand against AI and capitalism, for democratic governance and a good life for all.
Currently, digital technologies spearhead capitalist accumulation and destruction. In their current form, they represent a technological assault on our ecological, material and social foundations of life.
We have had enough of Big Tech! We are fighting back!"
