Strike at the End of the World

Every month, 600,000 cell phones and 200,000 televisions are produced on the Tierra del Fuego islands, which belong to Argentina. In May 2025, 10,000 workers went on strike. The trigger was the threat to their jobs posed by Milei's policies.

In this film, workers describe their living and working conditions. It also focuses on those who profit from these policies, including a businessman from the family of the current Minister of Economy, Caputo. The film then takes a trip through history, starting with the Conquista and ending with an uprising that took place in 1995.

The islanders fear that they could be displaced by the extractivist policies of the Milei government.

“Who are the rulers of Tierra del Fuego? How do people work, live, and struggle in this industrial giant? Who earns fortunes that could not be spent in 50 lifetimes, and who struggles day after day to survive? Who can defend not only their work but also their sovereignty?” (the filmmakers).
