Iron Eaters

Film about the situation of seasonal workers in the ship-breaking yards in the south of Bangladesh.

"The yearly famine in the north of Bangladesh forces the peasants Kholil and Gadu to leave their families at home. Together they start working at the ship-breaking yards in the south. Along the beaches of Chittagong they take apart the waste of the Western World with their bare hands: oil tankers and huge container ships.
Direktor Shaheen Dill-Riaz witnesses a system of exploitation few workers can escape: The seasonal workers don't just do the most dangerous jobs in the yards, they also fall into a debt trap, and there is no way out.
