Rebellious Cleaners

On June 7, 2011 Sodexo workers in Bogotá organized a day of protest, together with the Sinaltrainal Union and with the support of the American union SEIU. On the same day, protests also took place in France, Dominican Republic, Morocco, USA and Brazil.

Sodexo does not pay for overtime and fires workers who get ill or pregnant. In Morocco, Sodexo tries to promote yellow-dog unions and fires unionists.

One week after the action, a Colombian Sodexo worker, member of Sinaltrainal and shop steward, was threatened by an anonymous caller. He was just returning home from collective negotiations.
